TODAY IN SEATTLE-AREA HISTORY, Mar 7

Medic One becomes operational in 1970 at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, providing out-of-hospital emergency cardiac care in a custom-built van. It is one of the first paramedic programs in the U.S. where physician-level help is sent to the scene. In 1974, referring to Medic One, “60 Minutes” calls Seattle “The Best Place to Have a Heart Attack.”
