TODAY IN SEATTLE-AREA HISTORY, Jan 28

Dick’s Drive-In opens in 1954, serving hamburgers, French fries and milkshakes on Northeast 45th Street in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood.Dick’s comes to represent the quintessential 1950s, a cross between fast food and the automobile, the place to hang out with your friends with rock ‘n’ roll blaring from the car radio.  (The newest Dick’s opens last month in Kent, the seventh local site for the burger joint.)
